Welcome
Credit unions provide financial services to over 800,000 people in England, Scotland and Wales. As financial co-operatives they are owned and controlled by their members and only exist to meet the needs of those members.
Credit unions provide a range of services including savings accounts, affordable credit and insurance. Increasing numbers of credit unions also provide a current account, ISAs, Child Trust Funds and even mortgages.
The Association of British Credit Unions Ltd (ABCUL) is the main trade association for credit unions in England, Scotland and Wales. ABCUL represents around 70% of all credit unions who in turn provide services to 85% of the British credit union membership.
ABCUL represents its members with Government, the Financial Services Authority and the media. It provides a full range of advice, information, training and development services to help its members grow to be sustainable financial co-operatives.
Our Vision
Credit unions will become the primary source of affordable, high quality and ethical financial services for the people of Great Britain.
Our Mission
ABCUL is the principal, democratically governed representative body of the credit union movement in Great Britain providing credit unions with the leadership, services and assistance they require to meet the financial needs and aspirations of the people of this country.
