Biography
Mark Garnier was elected as Conservative MP for Wyre Forest on May 6th 2010 with a majority of 2,643.
Mark's experience before politics was in finance and business. After leaving Charterhouse in 1981, he embarked on a career in the City of London, starting as a junior clerk on the floor of the old Stock Exchange in the UK Government Debt, or Gilt market. In 1986 he turned his eye to the equity markets of the Far East, where he spent the next 13 years in various investment banks.
Mark left the investment banking world in 1999, setting up his own businesses in investment management, in which he still has an interest.
He is a member of the Treasury Select Committee.
More recently, Mark has worked as a business consultant, helping SMEs with strategic planning.
Outside politics, Mark is a governor of Kidderminster College - a role he has held since 2005 - as well as sitting on the Court of the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers of London.
Mark is married to Caroline and together they live with their three children near Abberley.
